The Prairies
This week we’ve flown through three Provinces! To be fair, however; there’s not a lot between the larger cities through the Prairies. After leaving Banff, we headed for Medicine Hat. Camping beside us was a man and three young kids. These kids absolutely adored Charlie and insisted that we come over to spend time with them around the fire. I have been absolutely surprised and humbled by the generosity of others as I make my way East. The man with three kids gave me a bundle of firewood on his way out and wished me well on my way. People become more and more friendly as I head on. I’ve had many great conversations with people I’ve met so far. I’ve been given plenty of great advice and hints on where to go when I’m farther East.
Past Regina, I drove on to Brandon, Manitoba. In Brandon I met with my boyfriend, Justin’s, mom and her dog who had been driving through the Prairies in two short days. Her dog Marley is a little old and cranky, but Charlie got along with him okay. When we met we continued on to Winnipeg where we stayed for the night at her parent’s place. I love going to see my boyfriend’s family because they make me feel so at home. I’ve never been welcomed by someone else’s family so wholeheartedly with open arms and I love them so much for that. Now we’re heading to their family cabin on the lake a couple hours East of Winnipeg. Justin will meet us there in a few days and I can’t wait to see him again!
