Big City Hustle
From the small towns of Western Ontario to the big cities of Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City, I finally feel like I am truly seeing it all. Leaving Parry Sound, I headed for Niagara Falls! Something I’ve never see before and was ecstatic to see in person. As I should have expected, the area is flooded with tourists.; I being one of them. It made me think about how typical it is of mankind to take a wonder of nature and turn it into a marketing scheme. Humans, we’re all about money.
Next up was Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City. All such unique cities with one major commonality: traffic is a nightmare. People drive like absolute lunatics in the big cities. I’ve been trying to spend some time in the cities, but haven’t had as much time to spare as I’d like. I know though that I’ll linger a little longer on my way back. Walking around the cities can be difficult with Charlie at times as people attempt to bowl right through us and get caught in Charlie’s leash. Or Charlie wants to try and kiss everyone he sees and it’s difficult to explain to a dog why that’s not appropriate. In Montreal we visited a cafe called ‘Le Doggy Café’. It’s an adorable cafe that allows dogs to roam around off leash. Charlie loved it! There were other dogs to play with and toys. I’m so glad places like that exist. We’ll definitely stop there again on our way back through!
This week I’ve been trying to live in the moment. A constant struggle I face is the overwhelming feeling of anxiety facing the future and what is to come next. I feel as though I have to have everything planned out all the time. If things don’t go according to plan, and they almost never do, then I stress and worry that I won’t get to the next place on time. I won’t be able to find a place to stay. I won’t be able to set up camp before dark. The worries are endless. My mantra this week has been ‘whatever will be, will be’. I know that I cannot change what has already happened and that worrying will not change the events to come. Whatever will be, will be.
Leaving Quebec, we headed for a small camping area just outside of Fredricton, New Brunswick! This morning we left, passed through the city of Fredricton, and made it to Sussex. Tomorrow we’ll be making our way onto Halifax, NS! I’m so excited to finally be on the East coast. I can’t wait to let Charlie go for a swim in the ocean! I know there is so much more to see and I can’t wait. However, in less than a week we’ll be turning around and we’ll be homeward bound. Except this time with new things to see on a different route!
